Antoine GOMILA

ASBA artist – The Wealthy Hobos

Antoine discovered drumming at the age of 11 and quickly developed a style influenced by blues, funk, hard rock, and metal. Trained at ATLA and later at Drumming Lab, he now divides his time between his band The Wealthy Hobos and working with a wide range of artists both live and in the studio.

Sometimes the choice of an instrument comes about in unexpected ways.

While sitting at a school desk in middle school, one of Antoine’s friends was drawing a comic book about a fictional hard rock band called The Bite Air, made up of four members. At 11 years old, and just beginning to discover rock and metal music, Antoine suggested turning the comic into a real band. The problem was that neither of them knew how to play an instrument.

The character he connected with the most was “Slim,” the drummer, so the drums became his instrument by default.

His friend’s father was a musician, and the drummer from his band stored his gear in their garage. Little by little, after school, Antoine started spending time behind the kit, hitting the drums and learning on his own.

Other musicians took on the remaining characters from the comic, and before long, the band was playing its first concerts. By the age of 13, they were performing regularly, learning everything as self-taught musicians.

After high school, Antoine chose to continue his studies at ATLA in Paris and fully commit himself to music.

It was almost like starting from scratch, a complete relearning process.

The school opened up new musical horizons, allowing him to develop new techniques while studying percussion and music production.

After some time at ATLA, he decided to continue his training at Drumming Lab to deepen his knowledge.

Meanwhile, the projects evolved. The Bite Air became Terrorflieger, then The Skivers, but after many years together, the members eventually went their separate ways.

It was during this period that Antoine founded The Wealthy Hobos, a band inspired by his earliest musical loves, blues, funk, and hard rock, while incorporating the influences he had discovered more recently.

With this project, he has toured extensively across France and Europe, performing alongside various musicians who have contributed to the band’s evolution.

At the same time, he has worked with numerous artists both live and in the studio, covering styles ranging from pop and metal to electronic music.

“My ASBA Metal kit delivers exactly what I need: power, precision, and character. It cuts through every mix while keeping a unique musical identity.”
