Didier HANOT

ASBA artist – Jeff Toto Blues, DHG

Didier Hanot is a drummer and teacher at the Conservatoire of Lozère. Between the stage, where he performs with Jeff Toto Blues, DHG, or Why Notes, and the classroom, he has made transmission and musicality the core of his journey.

A passionate drummer since his teenage years, Didier Hanot has built his life around two inseparable pillars: performance and teaching. Trained by renowned teachers such as Serge Puchol and Philippe Leroux, he immersed himself early on in jazz, blues, and contemporary music.

On stage, he has been behind the drums with Jeff Toto Blues since 1992, recording several albums and performing hundreds of concerts, including major festivals such as Cognac and Cahors. He is also the founder of the trio DHG, which brings new groove and energy to blues classics. His curiosity has led him to collaborate with artists from diverse horizons, from Venezuelan jazz pianist Virginia Ramirez to British blues-rock guitarist Cliff Campbell, American bluesman Jim Roberts, and the Sarah Margalejo group with its Brazilian and pop influences. Today, he continues to broaden his musical experiences with the Aristote et Compagnie collective, the group Why Notes, and the Rêvélia company dedicated to young audiences.

Alongside his career as a musician, Didier is deeply invested in teaching. A tenured professor at the Conservatoire of Lozère, he has inspired several generations of students through his approach based on listening, nuance, and musicality. As coordinator of the Florac branch, he has also led ambitious projects such as the school orchestra in contemporary music. For him, performing and teaching are inseparable: his passion lives equally on stage and in the classroom.

As an ASBA artist, Didier champions a vision of drumming that is rooted in tradition while embracing a wide range of musical styles.

“ASBA drums give me exactly what I’m looking for: musicality, nuance and depth. On stage or in the classroom, they reveal my playing and allow me to share my passion with authenticity.”
