Fabien Tournier is a Toulouse-born drummer with Mediterranean roots, known for his versatility across jazz, rock, and large ensemble projects. His ASBA 14x8 signature snare reflects his demanding approach, depth of tone, and strong musical identity.
Born in Toulouse with Mediterranean roots, Fabien Tournier started playing drums at the age of 5, encouraged by his father, himself a professional musician. By the age of 8, he was already performing live and enrolled at the Dante Agostini drum school in Toulouse. In 2003, Fabien was admitted to the Toulouse Conservatory in the drum class, and in 2006 he was awarded First Prize in drums with Highest Honors unanimously and congratulations from the jury.
Since 2009, he has performed with various groups such as Big Band Garonne, Line, Headbangers, Les Sacqueboutiers de Toulouse, Kathy Boyé, Offground Tag, and others. This period was also marked by his entry into the marching band Rockbox. After becoming a semi-finalist on the TV show “France’s Got Talent” (La France a un incroyable talent) on M6 in 2010, Rockbox notably performed as an opening act for Scorpions, Murray Head, Christophe Maé, Cock Robin, M. Pokora, Louis Bertignac, and Deep Purple during their UK tour in 2013.
Fabien Tournier has constantly sought to multiply musical experiences in order to broaden his artistic horizons. His collaborations have led him to perform alongside musicians such as Hermeto Pascoal, Dave Liebman, Nicolas Gardel, Craig Adams, Tonya Baker, Kellylee Evans, Philippe Léogé, Richard Galliano, Claude Egea, Denis Leloup, Jacques Adamo, David Linx, Lisa Simone, 3 Cafés Gourmands, Magyd Cherfi, among others. He has also performed at numerous festivals including Jazz sur son 31, Jazz à Vienne, Les Nuits de la Guitare de Patrimonio, The Slide Factory Festival, Rio Loco, Jazz sous les Pommiers, Lax’n Blues Festival, Jazz à Conilhac, Millau Jazz Festival, Marrakech International Festival, Bus Palladium, Le Cabaret Vert, and Jazz in Marciac.
In 2025, Fabien and the ASBA team created his 14x8 signature snare drum model in a 7-ply wood construction: elm burl, two plies of bubinga, sycamore maple, two plies of bubinga, elm burl, with beech reinforcement rings on the bearing edges.
