Joel DUFEU
ASBA artist – Pierre Garnier
Joël doesn’t just play — he embodies a fusion of cultural identity and musical precision. Whether in the studio or on stage, every performance delivers rhythmic power, expressive finesse, and a unique sense of groove.
Joël Dufeu is a Caribbean drummer originally from Martinique, now based in the greater Paris area. His playing, shaped by the traditional percussion of his island, delivers a combination of powerful groove and expressive subtlety, honed through diverse professional experiences.
After rigorous training at the American School of Modern Music, where he earned a scholarship in 2016, Joël developed a delicate and sensitive musical approach that blends technical mastery with innate musicality.
Beyond his tours with GIMS, Joël is a member of the gospel ensemble Souffle Nouveau. He frequently accompanies spiritual gatherings and events, adding a collective and heartfelt dimension to moments of worship through his music.
On stage alongside GIMS and Pierre Garnier, his intense groove unfolds with precision and energy. His live performances demonstrate his ability to meet the demands of large-scale professional shows.
Joël fully embodies the spirit of ASBA Drums: an artist grounded in a deep cultural heritage, shaped by demanding training, and distinguished by a commanding stage presence across varied settings (live, church, studio), with a vibrant, organic playing style perfectly aligned with the brand’s image.
“What I love about ASBA is the total control I get over the sound. The Metal kit gives me a precise response, perfect for the stage. It’s easy to tune, always stable, and lets me feel comfortable in any situation — whether on tour or in church.”
