Martial MARZOUKOU MACAULEY

ASBA artist – Jango Janice

Martial Marzoukou Macauley, a key figure of the French music scene for over forty years, has played with Les Innocents, Rachid Taha, and Doc Gyneco. Creator of the beat for FFF’s “Barbès,” he now brings his powerful, instinctive groove to Jango Janice and Sekta.

Martial Marzoukou Macauley has been a prominent figure on the French music scene for over forty years. A drummer, percussionist, composer, and beatmaker, he forged his unique musical identity from the raw energy of his punk-rock beginnings, which he has since adapted to a wide range of styles: rock, funk, urban music, and traditional percussion. His powerful, organic playing, always in service of the groove, has led him to collaborate with major artists such as Les Innocents, Rachid Taha, Vincent Lagaf’, Doc Gyneco, Zenzila, and many more, reflecting a rich and acclaimed career.

His name is tied to a landmark moment in French music history: he created the beat for “Barbès” by FFF, an iconic track that defined an era. Yet Martial has never stopped reinventing himself. Today, he is deeply involved in the rising project Jango Janice, bringing his creativity and rhythmic sensibility to a sound that is already making waves. He also performs alongside Sekta, confirming his role as both a bridge between generations and an inspiring accompanist.

Martial Marzoukou embodies a singular journey, fueled by passion, experimentation, and a lifelong love of groove. Balancing heritage with innovation, he continues to carve out a musical path that is authentic, powerful, and deeply alive.

“ASBA built a unique Metal kit for me, the Martialabeille. Beyond its singular identity, it’s an exceptional instrument that reflects my world. Playing such a personal creation, crafted with authentic French savoir-faire, is a true source of pride.”
