Born from rare standards and a patient dialogue. Equinoxe is not the result of a simple specification sheet, but of more than a year of exchanges, refinements, and meticulous adjustments between Simon Goubert and ASBA.
Designed for jazz, developed by a musician for musicians, Equinoxe embodies a vision: a fully cohesive, stable, and vibrant instrument, capable of existing in every dynamic without ever holding back.
Built from 6 plies of beech and finished with 10 coats of high-gloss metal flake lacquer, it combines depth, projection, and refined aesthetics. No wrap. No artifice. The wood speaks freely, whatever the chosen finish.
Total uniformity across the kit. Stable pitch. Consistent sustain, from ppp to fff.
No muffling. Here, the shell breathes.
The bass drum is designed for versatility: open and singing, integrated into the tom line in the spirit of 1960s jazz drummers, or tuned lower and drier to become a precise and efficient kick.
The Equinoxe snare drum is dual by nature: melodic without wires, perfectly integrated into the tom language; crisp and full-bodied with wires engaged, always precise and controlled, whatever the dynamic. A sound that is both punchy and articulate.
The hoops are part of this balance: • Triple-flanged hoops on toms for openness and flexibility • Die-cast hoop on the snare for precision and stability • Maple hoops on the bass drum for warmth and roundness
Every choice is deliberate. Nothing is left to chance.
